It’s official, after several years and many meetings, “dozens of national scientific societies gathered together to support marking 100 years of quantum mechanics with a U.N.-declared international year.” This statement and much more related information is available on the official website of the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology (quantum2025.org). One focus will be on spreading awareness about how quantum science and technologies can help accomplish many of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). For many in the scientific communities who participated in the International Year of Light 2015 (IYL 2015), and subsequent annual International Day of Light (lightday.org), this will be a similar effort.
QOISC Founder, Donn Silberman, is a member of the United Nations Association of Orange County (UNA-OC)
and is leading a Southern California effort to promote awareness and plan events at schools, and many other venues. Recruiting people of all ages to help in these efforts, Donn is especially interested in learning how our youth can get involved. These can be through student and neighborhood clubs as well as companies and non-profit organizations.
